Do I lose my existing email if I switch?
No. Hydra only handles email sent TO the domains you add. Your personal Gmail, Fastmail, or whatever you already use stays exactly as it is. You're adding a new inbox for your project domains, not replacing anything.
Can I test it without committing DNS changes?
Yes. Add a cheap test domain ($1–10 at any registrar), point its MX records at Hydra, and send yourself an email. The free plan lets you run 3 domains forever, so there's no time pressure and no credit card to back out of.
What happens to my emails if I cancel?
You get a 30-day export window to download every message as standard .eml files. Email is never deleted behind a paywall — if you hit your storage cap you pay an overage, you don't lose mail. Cancellation only stops future billing and new inbound delivery.
Can I reply from Hydra to an email I originally received in Gmail?
Not today. Hydra owns the inbox for the domains you add to it — it doesn't federate with Gmail, Outlook, or other accounts. If you need one inbox that covers both personal Gmail and your project domains, Hydra is the wrong tool. If you want your project domains out of Gmail entirely, it's exactly the right one.
